A tall linear fire you can feel from across the room—even with the power out.

Quick Facts

  • Heating Capacity: 850–1,700 sq ft
  • Efficiency: 70% (EnerGuide)
  • Fuel: Natural gas or propane.
  • Controls: Valor 10 remote with thermostat and timer included; the fireplace runs on four AA batteries, so it works with the power out.
  • Fan: None

Who It's For

A long, low ribbon of flame looks good in photos, but a short window on the fire can leave a room more decorated than warm. You need a linear fire that's tall enough to see from every seat and warm enough to heat the room it's in. If you're framing a new wall or remodeling one and want the fire to be the thing people gather around, the Valor LT1 is built for that. Choose a decorative linear instead and you get the look; choose the LT1 and you get the look plus a heater that keeps working when the power goes out.

What Makes It Special

The LT1 heats by radiation, not by blowing air around. Low-mass ceramic logs heat up and glow quickly, and the ceramic glass absorbs that warmth and radiates it into the room the way the sun warms your face—it heats you, not just the air, with no blower humming behind it.

Above the glass, Valor's HeatShift system carries warm air through hidden ducts and releases it back into the room, which keeps the wall above the fireplace cooler. You can run drywall, wood, tile, or stone right up to the surround, or hang a mantel lower than usual. It works by gravity—no fan, no electricity.

Here's the part worth repeating to your spouse: the whole fireplace runs on four AA batteries as its primary power, not as a backup, so an outage that takes the furnace down doesn't touch it. An overhead light inside the firebox even lets it glow in July with the fire off.

Possible Downsides

  • HeatShift ducting is required, so the wall above the fireplace has to be planned for it when the wall is framed.
  • WiFi and app control are an optional upgrade; the included remote handles thermostat and timer duties on its own.
  • It builds into a framed wall, not an existing masonry fireplace; if you have a wood-burning fireplace to fill, you want an insert instead.

If you want a linear fire that heats the room as well as it anchors it, the LT1 is the right decision. The room it's in becomes the room the house lives in.

Finish the LT1 your way: six fire beds (Grand Traditional logs, birch, splitwood, driftwood, rock and shale, or Murano glass), four liners (plain black, fluted black, gray brick, or reflective glass), and your choice of a clean install edge or 1" adjustable trim.
