Who It's For

A big room asks a lot of a fireplace: most of them heat the air, the air leaves every time a door opens, and a blower runs the whole time trying to keep up. You need a fire that heats you, not the air around you, and a flame wide enough to carry the room. If you're building or remodeling a great room or an open main floor and you want warmth that doesn't depend on the grid, the Valor H6 is the one to look at. Choose a standard fan-driven fireplace instead and you'll live with blower noise and a cold hearth every time the power blinks.

What Makes It Special

The H6 radiates heat into objects—the floor, the couch, you—the way the sun warms your face, while a built-in secondary heat exchanger moves warm air through the room with no blower at all. It runs on four AA batteries as its primary power, so the fire keeps heating during a power outage, and you can turn the flame down to half for a fall evening or run it full for a January cold snap.

It also comes with overhead lighting as standard, so the logs and firebox glow like a fireplace on or off—it never reads as a dark box in the middle of the wall.

Add the optional HeatShift system and warm air travels through hidden ducts back into the room instead of pooling above the fireplace, so the wall above stays cooler—room for a TV or artwork—with no fan or electricity required.

Possible Downsides

  • The circulating fan is optional, not included, and it needs household power; the fire itself doesn't.
  • App and WiFi control are optional upgrades; the included remote handles thermostat, programming, and the timer on its own.
  • Outdoor installation under a covered patio requires the optional conversion kit.

If you want a fire that carries a large room and keeps heating when the power's out, the H6 is the right decision. The room it's in becomes the room the house lives in.

The H6 takes three fire beds—birch, driftwood, or traditional logs—six liners from plain black to reflective glass, and four black front styles, with an optional circulating fan, HeatShift ducting, and HeatSplit heat distribution to tailor how it looks and where the warmth goes.
