I probably could have paid less someplace else and figured out more myself but for a category that was new to me it was worth more for the comprehensive, hassle-free experience.

He answered our questions clearly and readily and gave us great instruction on the basics to get us started with the manual and first steps. Easy to interact with and a good finished product. On October 14 Jack returned to install the replacement piece that had arrived broken (twice!). He was patient, careful and thorough in making the installation of the correct piece and replacing the other logs. He showed us again how to work the remote to start up the fireplace. He carefully reviewed the process for burning off the chemicals that come with new parts, which we had waited to do until all pieces were here.

I am reaching out to share my experience with service technician, Ryan W last week. Ryan was incredibly personable, knowledgeable, and helpful thorough the entire visit. He took the time to explain everything clearly, answered all my questions, made sure I was happy with the work being done, and made sure everything was working properly before leaving. Ryan listened to my end goals and was able to find a great solution for us. Ryan also took good care of our home in protecting the work area and cleaning up upon completion. It’s refreshing to have someone who genuinely cares about helping people and takes pride in their work. He was professional, friendly, and clearly cared about our having not just a well-working fireplace, but a terrific customer experience as well. He is the kind of in-home service technician one always hopes to have, but so seldom actually gets. Ryan provided great customer service. I really appreciated their attention to detail and the peace of mind knowing my fireplace was serviced properly. It was hard to find a nice looking gas log set after 42 years of wood fires. Super convenient with remote, and the G52 model kicks out a lot of heat at half the gas use. Peterson makes a high quality gas firelog system.

I have been a customer of Sutter Hone and Hearth for over 20years. When we moved to our new home 4 years ago we now had four gas fireplaces but at that time they didn’t service our area. I had to call someone else I can tell you I was more than happy that now they service our area. They are honest trustworthy and provide great service. I don’t think gas fireplaces are something you shouldn’t service regularly. Their tech China came out and was so professional and knowledgeable about each fireplace cleaning even the front panels so exceptional. I told her my concerns and she was very nice to explain everything. See you next year and thank you!

We reached out several years ago for a quote and finally made the decision to have one installed at our house place just north of Seattle. We were highly pleased with the experience and professionalism that the sales team and the in-home estimator brought in every contact. The installation team was great and made sure to have drop clothes down to protect our carpet and ensured everything was in order after install, including a thorough explanation of maintenance and functionality. Highly impressed and are now able to utilize our largest room in our house all through the winter with the nice complementary gas insert. Definitely top notch customer service and installation. You walk in with a million questions and walk out with answers! They provide clear information to help you make a decision and aren't pushy about it. Pre install, they come to your house and measure everything to ensure everything will fit just right. They do custom surrounds to match your house's unique style and provide good design direction. Install is smooth (so much that even the inspectors were impressed) and the handoff is seamless. I can't recommend Sutter enough and would highly recommend them for your gas fireplace needs!

All other companies laughed at us given the size of the fireplace opening, but Sutter was really helpful and gave us some suggestions on where to find one that might fit. We found one, they ordered it and installed it. They also gave us great advice on a mason to help adjust some of the masonry work needed before the install. Our new gas insert looks great, really warms up our living room in the winter and is a great focal point for the house.

In the end, we got a great fireplace that didn't break the bank. They also had to install it before the remodeling was completed, so they worked with the contractor to explain where the chimney had to go, etc. After the remodel, they came over to teach us how to use the fireplace and help "break it in". It really is the heart of the house thanks to them.

The team went above and beyond to fast track installation so that we could get some use during these waning cold months. We got the best advice for selecting a unit that met our price point, no fast talking toward a more expensive unit, and, when asked, gave us their take on best looking surrounds that would work with our space. The scope of the work, replacing fireplace surround from atop our very tall house, was more than we had expected and left us better appreciating the labor expenses. Natural gas or propane?

If your house has natural gas within reach of the patio, it usually wins—no tanks, no Sunday-afternoon swap runs. Propane wins on flexibility and rentals. The counter will tell you straight which one your setup wants, and a gas line run is a conversation we have before you buy, not after.

What size Big Green Egg do you actually need?

The Large covers most Seattle households—it's the one that made ceramic cooking famous for a reason. Feed a crowd every weekend and the XL earns its space; cook for two and a Medium does everything smaller. We're a Platinum Big Green Egg dealer, so every size is at the counter to stand in front of.

Can you put a grill under your covered porch?

Not without a hood. A grill under a ceiling or cover needs ventilation designed for it—that's a hard rule, and it's why we ask where the grill lives before we take an order. If yours will live under a roof, we talk hoods first. It saves refunds and worse.

Can you order a grill online from Sutter?

You can start your quote online—name and phone, no payment. A real person from the counter calls to go over the configuration, confirm the price, and set a pickup time. Grills get bought right when a person checks the details.

Why not just buy from a big-box store?

Because you've already done that, and it's why you're here. The grills at our counter are the ones we'd cook on, built to be repaired, not replaced, and the advice comes from people who use them. Every unit on this page is available at our showroom.

Do you service grills?

Yes. Grill service and cleaning run out of the same shop, at the bench in Ballard or at your place for big and built-in grills. If it makes fire and we sold it, we'll keep it running; schedule service online or call the desk.

Do you sell pizza ovens in Seattle?

Yes. Pizza ovens sit on the same wall as the grills: Alfa and Gozney ovens in wood-fired and gas versions, built-in ovens from Delta Heat and Fire Magic for an outdoor kitchen, and a Big Green Egg bakes a credible pizza with the right stone. Get your quote online and a real person calls, or come stand in front of them in Ballard.

Gas grill or charcoal, which should you buy?

Gas starts fast and holds a temperature, which wins weeknights; charcoal adds the smoke flavor and the long, slow cooks, which wins weekends. The honest question is what you want to cook, now and a few years from now, and plenty of our customers end up with one of each. The counter asks that question before the sale.
