One fire, two rooms: heat that turns the corner.

Quick Facts

  • Heating Capacity: Approx. 900–1,800 sq ft
  • Efficiency: 67.4% (EnerGuide)
  • Viewing Area: 45½"
  • Fuel: Natural gas or propane.
  • Controls: Valor 10 remote with thermostat included; runs on AA batteries, so it still lights when the power's out.
  • Fan: None

Who It's For

A fireplace on a flat wall faces one direction. If your living room wraps into the dining room, or the kitchen looks across at where the fire would go, one of those spaces gets the flame and the other gets drywall. You need a fire you can see from both sides of the corner. The Valor LX2 Corner is built for exactly that: glass across the front and down one side, so both rooms get the fire and the warmth that comes off it. If your fireplace is going on an ordinary flat wall, a single-sided unit is the simpler choice; if it's going where two spaces meet, this is the one.

What Makes It Special

Valor builds the LX2 as a heater first. The firebox radiates warmth the way the sun warms your face, with no blower running in the background, while the HeatShift system catches the warm air rising off the fire and moves it through hidden ducts back into the room. That does two things at once: the room gets the heat instead of the wall above, and that wall stays cool enough to run drywall, wood, tile, or stone right up to the fireplace and hang a mantel lower than usual.

HeatShift works by gravity, with no fan and no electricity, and the fireplace itself runs on AA batteries as its primary power. When the grid goes down, the fire still lights and the heat keeps moving.

Overhead lighting inside the firebox highlights the logs with the fire on or off, so in July it reads as a finished feature, not a dark box.

Possible Downsides

  • It's built as a dedicated left-hand or right-hand corner; if you want glass on three sides, look at the LX2 3-Sided.
  • There is no blower; it heats the spaces it faces, and moving heat to another room takes the optional HeatSplit accessory.
  • Liner choices are two—fluted black or reflective glass.

If you want the fire to turn the corner instead of stopping at it, the LX2 Corner is the right decision. Both rooms it touches become the ones everyone ends up in.

Choose natural gas or propane, left or right hand, a fire bed of birch, driftwood, splitwood, rock and shale, or Murano glass, and a fluted black or reflective glass liner to match the rooms it's joining.
