Who It's For

A linear fireplace is supposed to carry the whole wall, but most of them heat by pushing warm air through a fan—so the showpiece hums all evening and goes cold the moment the power does. You need a fire that's big enough to own the room and warms it without a blower running. If you're building or remodeling around one statement wall—the great room, the main living space—the widest fire in Valor's Linear series is the one to build it around: the Valor L3. Choose a standard fan-driven linear instead and you'll spend every fire listening to the air move.

What Makes It Special

The L3 heats by radiance—the way the sun warms your face—through a ceramic glass window and a stainless steel burner, moving warmed air by natural convection instead of a fan. And because it runs on four AA batteries, not house power, a power outage doesn't turn your heat off.

Valor's HeatShift system channels rising warmth through hidden ducts and sends it back into the room, so the wall above stays cool enough for a TV or artwork—again with no fan and no electricity. You can run drywall, wood, tile, or stone right up to the surround, and since the L3 builds into a framed wall, that finish work is part of the job to plan for.

Possible Downsides

  • The Rock and Shale fire bed isn't offered on the L3. If river rock is the look you want, see the L2.
  • The Clean Install Kit front requires the HeatShift system. Plan both together if you want the flush, trimless finish.
  • The circulating fan is optional, not included. The radiant design is built to work without one.

If you want the fire to be the first thing people see when they walk in—and the room to stay warm and quiet while they look—the L3 is the right decision. The wall you built around it becomes the room the whole house lives in.

The L3 takes your choice of Birch, Driftwood, Splitwood, or Murano glass fire beds, a fluted black, reflective glass, or plain black liner, and three fronts from a 1" adjustable trim to the flush Clean Install Kit, so the look is yours to set.
