Who It's For

Most wide linear fireplaces are built to be looked at: the flame is long and low, and the heat is an afterthought. You need a fire that anchors the wall and still warms the people facing it. If you're planning a living room or great room where the fireplace is the focal point—maybe with a TV above it—the Valor L2 Linear is the one. Choose a decorative linear instead and you'll have a handsome wall while the furnace does all the work.

What Makes It Special

The L2 heats by radiation, not by blowing air. Its stainless steel burner and ceramic glass push warmth into the floor, the furniture, and you—the way the sun warms your face—with no fan required. Valor rates this radiant zone heating at up to 25% more efficient than central forced air, and because the air moves by natural convection, the fire is quiet.

Here's the part that matters in an outage: the L2 runs on four AA batteries as its primary power, not as a backup. The fire and the heat keep going when the power doesn't—no electrician's visit required to make it so.

Add the HeatShift system and hidden ducts carry the rising warmth up and back into the room instead of into the wall above, so a TV or artwork can hang over the fire. HeatShift moves that air with gravity alone—no fan, no electricity.

Possible Downsides

  • The circulating fan is an optional add-on, not included. The radiant design is built to work without one.
  • The flush-finish Clean Install front requires the HeatShift system. The 1" adjustable trim does not.
  • App and WiFi control are optional upgrades. The included remote handles the thermostat and timer on its own.

If you want a linear fire that heats the room as well as it anchors it, the L2 is the right decision. The room it's in becomes the room the house lives in.

The L2 takes five fuel beds—Birch, Long Beach Driftwood, Splitwood, Murano Glass, and Rock and Shale—a liner in fluted black, reflective glass, or plain black, two front styles, and an outdoor conversion kit if you want it on a covered patio.
