Who It's For
Most linear fireplaces are built to be looked at, not lived with—a wide ribbon of flame, with a blower doing the real work of warming the room, so the fire runs all evening and the loudest thing in the room is the fan. You need a linear fire that heats you, not just the wall it hangs on. If you want a modern, wall-wide fire that's also a genuine heater—quiet, and still making heat when the power's out—the Valor L1 is the one. Pick a looks-first linear instead and you get the view without the warmth.
What Makes It Special
The L1 heats by radiance. Its stainless steel burner, ceramic glass, and low-mass logs soak up the fire's heat and send it into the room the way the sun warms your face—no blower required, so the only sound in the room is the fire. And because it runs on four AA batteries as its primary power, it keeps making heat through an outage instead of going dark with the furnace.
Valor's HeatShift system carries warm air through hidden ducts up and back into the room instead of letting it bake the wall above, so a TV or artwork can hang over the fire and stay safe from the heat. It works by gravity—no fan, no electricity.
The Valor 10 remote comes standard: set 70 and the fireplace holds the room there on its own, cycling as needed. Add the optional app kit and you can program days, times, and temperatures from your phone.
Possible Downsides
- No fan is included—the L1 warms the room it's in by radiance and natural air movement; a circulating fan kit is optional.
- The Clean Install front requires a HeatShift plenum; the 1" and 3½" trims can take HeatShift or skip it.
- The fire is 40" wide—for a bigger statement, Valor's L2 and L3 carry the same design at 50" and 64".
If you want a linear fire that feels as warm as it looks, the L1 is the right decision. The room it's in becomes the room the house lives in.
The L1 takes five fire beds—Murano Glass, Birch, Long Beach Driftwood, Splitwood, and Rock and Shale—plus fluted black, reflective glass, or plain black liners and three front options, so the fire can match the room you already have.

Can you get an instant online estimate for the Valor L1?
Yes—right on this page. Configure the Valor L1 and get a free, no-obligation instant estimate covering the unit as configured, a fitting vent kit, and professional installation labor. No phone call required.
What's included in the online estimate?
The unit with the options you selected, a real vent kit matched to your venting, and the installation labor for a typical setup. Your free one-to-two-hour in-home visit confirms every detail before anything is ordered.
Who pulls the permit?
We do, on every job, in every jurisdiction we serve—and we meet the inspector. It's built into the process, not an upsell.
Can you see the Valor L1 in a photo of your own room?
Yes. The Visualizer tab on this page renders the Valor L1 into a straight-on photo of your wall, scaled to the room, so you see it in your space before you price a thing. Phone photos are fine. It's a faithful preview, not an architectural drawing; sizing, venting, and trim get confirmed at the free in-home visit.
Is the online estimate real, or a rough guess?
Real, and honest about what it is: a price for the Valor L1 as configured, a fitting vent kit, and professional installation labor, built from real Seattle installs. It is not binding. The free one-to-two-hour in-home visit checks your actual house before the price is final, and nothing is ordered until then.
Do you install and service the Valor L1 yourselves?
Yes, both. Our own in-house installers set the Valor L1, run the venting and the gas, pull the permit, and light the first fire before leaving. Afterward the service desk looks after every unit that came from Sutter, with factory-trained technicians and a real date when you call.
