Who It's For

A bedroom, den, or small family room is where a lot of quiet evenings happen, and a full-size fireplace can take over a wall like that. You need a fire sized to the room, with a finished face that looks like it belongs there. If you want a small gas fire with real-looking logs, a framed front, and a remote that holds the temperature you set, the Panorama P33 is the one. Choose it and the smaller room gets its own fire; skip it and that room stays the one you heat with the furnace and leave by nine.

What Makes It Special

The fire looks like a fire. Hand-crafted ceramic logs sit over glowing embers behind ceramic glass, and you frame them the way your room calls for: a Vignette faceplate in black, platinum, or Tuscan Sunset, with an optional door inlay for a classic fireplace-door look, or traditional black louvers. Brick panels or a black reflective enamel panel finish the inside, so it reads as a real fireplace, not a box in the wall.

It keeps working for you. The remote holds the room at the temperature you set and lets you turn the flame down to a glow or up for a cold night. Regency states its gas fireplaces operate without electricity, so a winter outage doesn't leave the room cold. On the P33E, the pilot lights when you turn the fire on rather than burning between fires. Add the optional Heat Wave duct system and some of the warmth can travel to a room up to 20 feet away.

Possible Downsides

  • The fan is optional, not included. Without it, the heat stays mostly in the room the fireplace is in.
  • The standard P33 keeps a small pilot flame burning year-round. The P33E lights its pilot only when you turn the fire on.
  • It always wears a faceplate or louvers. For a clean, frameless front, look at the Panorama P33CE.

If you've wanted a fire in a smaller room without it taking over the wall, the Panorama P33 is the right decision. The den you passed through on the way to bed becomes the room where the evening ends.

You can finish the P33 with a Vignette faceplate in black, platinum, or Tuscan Sunset (door inlays in black or Tuscan Sunset), or black louvers with a safety screen and optional three-sided trim; rustic brown, old town red, or herringbone brick panels or a black reflective enamel panel; a birch log set; ember upgrades; a variable speed fan; wall thermostats; and the Heat Wave duct system.
