Who It's For
You are building or remodeling a modern room and the fireplace has to look like it belongs to the architecture: wide, low, and finished flush in non-combustible stone or tile. The Horizon HZ40E gives you a 30-inch linear burner under a glass-clear front, with an inner door frame in black or brushed stainless so the edge against your finish is clean. If you want a contemporary fire with a long flame line and a heat output that still matters, this is the one. Choose a traditional log fireplace and the room gets a hearth, not a horizon.
What Makes It Special
The HZ40E is a true linear fire: the flame runs the width of the glass over black, copper, or clear crystals or over black, caramel, or glacier-ice firebeads, so you set the color of the ember bed to the room.
The inner door frame gives a clean edge for a flush finish, and the outer faceplate or Verona face is there when you want the fire framed instead. It requires non-combustible facing, which is exactly what a stone or tile wall provides.
Possible Downsides
- Non-combustible facing is required, so plan the wall finish with the fireplace, not after it.
- Natural gas and propane are separate units; there is no field conversion.
If you want a long, modern line of fire set flush into a stone or tile wall, the Horizon HZ40E is the right decision. Guests look at the wall and ask who designed it.
The HZ40E offers black or brushed stainless inner door frames, black or stainless outer faceplates, crystals or firebeads in several colors, a fan kit, and the Verona face.

Can you get an instant online estimate for the Regency Horizon HZ40E?
Yes—right on this page. Configure the Regency Horizon HZ40E and get a free, no-obligation instant estimate covering the unit as configured, a fitting vent kit, and professional installation labor. No phone call required.
What's included in the online estimate?
The unit with the options you selected, a real vent kit matched to your venting, and the installation labor for a typical setup. Your free one-to-two-hour in-home visit confirms every detail before anything is ordered.
Who pulls the permit?
We do, on every job, in every jurisdiction we serve—and we meet the inspector. It's built into the process, not an upsell.
Can you see the Regency Horizon HZ40E in a photo of your own room?
Yes. The Visualizer tab on this page renders the Regency Horizon HZ40E into a straight-on photo of your wall, scaled to the room, so you see it in your space before you price a thing. Phone photos are fine. It's a faithful preview, not an architectural drawing; sizing, venting, and trim get confirmed at the free in-home visit.
Is the online estimate real, or a rough guess?
Real, and honest about what it is: a price for the Regency Horizon HZ40E as configured, a fitting vent kit, and professional installation labor, built from real Seattle installs. It is not binding. The free one-to-two-hour in-home visit checks your actual house before the price is final, and nothing is ordered until then.
Do you install and service the Regency Horizon HZ40E yourselves?
Yes, both. Our own in-house installers set the Regency Horizon HZ40E, run the venting and the gas, pull the permit, and light the first fire before leaving. Afterward the service desk looks after every unit that came from Sutter, with factory-trained technicians and a real date when you call.
