A nearly square see-through, the shape of a classic hearth.

Quick Facts

  • Heating Capacity: 750–1,450 sq ft
  • Viewing Area: 30 5/8" wide
  • Fuel: Natural gas; propane with a conversion kit.
  • Controls: Remote with thermostat included; wall switch and phone app available.

Who It's For

In a traditional home, a long linear see-through can look out of place. You need classic proportions on both sides of the wall. If you want an opening about two and a half feet across and almost as tall, shared by two rooms, the Tunnel 75x65 is the one: 30 5/8 by 25 9/16 inches.

What Makes It Special

The 75x65 tunnel stacks the flame like a hearth fire, visible from both rooms, on the 45 burner, with a mesh screen or double glass.

Ortal builds it without a frame, so the opening looks cut into your wall, and the cool-wall design means a TV or artwork can still hang above. Ortal publishes the gas input, not a square footage; from that input we estimate approximately 750 to 1,450 square feet.

Run it with the screen and no interior lighting and it works on batteries, so it still lights in a power outage. Thermostat mode on the included remote keeps the room at the temperature you pick.

Possible Downsides

  • Double glass runs on the plug-in adapter, so that version is dark during a power outage.
  • For a fire more than five feet tall at the same width, the Tunnel 31H is the vertical version.
  • Propane needs a conversion kit, fitted by an Ortal-authorized technician; it arrives set up for natural gas.

If you want a classic, squared see-through fire, the Tunnel 75x65 is the right decision. Both rooms get the fireplace they would have drawn.

Set it up with a mesh screen or double glass and one of five included log sets or an upgrade like bonfire, aspen, or charred branches.
