A 77-inch see-through with the larger burner.

Quick Facts

  • Heating Capacity: 1,300–2,550 sq ft
  • Viewing Area: 77 1/2" wide
  • Fuel: Natural gas; propane with a conversion kit.
  • Controls: Remote with thermostat included; wall switch and phone app available.

Who It's For

In a large open house, a see-through often divides the main living space from a second big room. You need length and more burner. If you want a 77 1/2-inch fire open to both sides, the Tunnel 200 is where the 160 burner begins.

What Makes It Special

The 200 tunnel raises our heat estimate over the 150 and 170 with the 160 burner, behind a long, low opening on both faces.

Ortal builds it without a frame, so the opening looks cut into your wall, and the cool-wall design means a TV or artwork can still hang above. Ortal publishes the gas input, not a square footage; from that input we estimate approximately 1,300 to 2,550 square feet.

The heat barrier is your call: a fine mesh screen that keeps hands off the hot glass, or a double-glass front cooled by fans between the panes. Run it with the screen and no interior lighting and it works on batteries, so it still lights in a power outage. Set a temperature on the included remote and it holds the room there on its own.

Possible Downsides

  • Only the screen version without lighting runs during an outage; double glass and the lighted tall-glass versions need household power.
  • The Tunnel 250 is only slightly ahead on warmth; choose it for length.
  • Propane needs a conversion kit, fitted by an Ortal-authorized technician; it arrives set up for natural gas.

If you want a long see-through serving two large rooms, the Tunnel 200 is the right decision. Both sides of the house gather at the fire.

Configure it with a mesh screen or double glass and one of five included log sets or an upgrade like bonfire, aspen, or charred branches.
