Five feet of fire shared by two big rooms.

Quick Facts

  • Heating Capacity: 1,100–2,200 sq ft
  • Viewing Area: 60 3/16" wide
  • Fuel: Natural gas; propane with a conversion kit.
  • Controls: Remote with thermostat included; wall switch and phone app available.

Who It's For

A great room and a kitchen, or a living room and a large dining room, need a fire long enough to read from both. You need length and a bigger burner. If you want a 60 3/16-inch see-through with glass 13 3/4, 21 5/8, or 30 inches tall, the Tunnel 150 is the first of the large tunnels.

What Makes It Special

The 150 tunnel moves to the 135 burner, with three glass heights to choose from, so both rooms get a strong, long fire.

Your stone or tile meets the fire with no trim in between, and Ortal's passive cool wall means the space above can hold a TV or a painting. Our estimate from Ortal's gas input puts its reach at roughly 1,100 to 2,200 square feet.

Two barriers are offered—a nearly invisible mesh screen, or double glass whose fans keep the outer pane far cooler than the fire side. Skip the lighting and use the screen, and batteries alone can run it—it still lights when the power is out. Thermostat mode on the included remote keeps the room at the temperature you pick.

Possible Downsides

  • Only the screen version without lighting runs during an outage; double glass and the lighted tall-glass versions need household power.
  • The Tunnel 170 shares this burner; it adds length, not warmth.
  • Natural gas is the factory setup; switching to propane means an Ortal conversion kit and an authorized technician.

If you want a five-foot fire both big rooms can enjoy, the Tunnel 150 is the right decision. Two big rooms feel like one warm space.

Set it up with a mesh screen or double glass with glass 13 3/4", 21 5/8", or 30" tall and an included log set—standard, driftwood, clay, or English—or a bonfire, campfire, aspen, or branch upgrade.
