A compact see-through divider for a smaller open plan.
Quick Facts

- Viewing Area: 31 9/16" wide
- Fuel: Natural gas; propane with a conversion kit.
- Controls: Remote with thermostat included; wall switch and phone app available.
Who It's For
In a smaller open plan, you may want to set the sitting area apart from the dining table without putting up a wall. You need a short divider with a fire in it. If the space between the two areas is modest, the Space Creator 75, about 31 inches of fire, is the compact one. The 120, 150, and 200 run longer.
What Makes It Special
Ortal built the Space Creator to separate spaces while keeping the room open: the fire shows from both sides of the divider and from its open end. At 31 9/16 inches wide, the 75 is the shortest of the four.
Your stone or tile meets the fire with no trim in between, and Ortal's passive cool wall means the space above can hold a TV or a painting. Our estimate from Ortal's gas input puts its reach at roughly 750 to 1,450 square feet.
The heat barrier is your call: a fine mesh screen that keeps hands off the hot glass, or a double-glass front cooled by fans between the panes. Skip the lighting and use the screen, and batteries alone can run it—it still lights when the power is out. Set a temperature on the included remote and it holds the room there on its own.
Possible Downsides
- Double glass runs on the plug-in adapter, so that version is dark during a power outage.
- It's the shortest Space Creator; if the divider runs farther, the Space Creator 120 gives you 51 inches of fire.
- Natural gas is the factory setup; switching to propane means an Ortal conversion kit and an authorized technician.
If you want to divide a modest open plan with a fire instead of a wall, the Space Creator 75 is the right decision. The living area and the dining table each get their own corner of the fire.
Configure it with a mesh screen or double glass and an included log set—standard, driftwood, clay, or English—or a bonfire, campfire, aspen, or branch upgrade, and add a black reflective interior if you like.
