Who It's For
You want the look of a real log fire on the wall without hauling wood or cleaning ash. You need a gas fire with logs that look the part, behind tall glass. The Ortal Wilderness 60HH Front Facing is for that wall. Choose a plain linear burner and the room gets a line of flame instead of a log fire.
What Makes It Special
The Wilderness 60HH is Ortal's extra-tall log fireplace, in the front-facing version. This version runs Ortal's Driftwood 100-3 burner with three long logs, the burner Ortal recommends for the 60HH.
HH models come with a double glass heat barrier only: a ceramic inner pane and a tempered outer pane, with fans that circulate room air between them. Ortal's Cool Wall Technology reduces the convective heat from the fireplace and keeps heat from building up in the chase, which allows a TV or artwork above the fire at Ortal's minimum clearances.
The 10-button remote comes with every Ortal fireplace, with Thermostatic, Program, and Eco modes; a puck handset, a wall switch, and the MyFire app over Wi-Fi are available.
Possible Downsides
- It needs household power. Ortal says double glass fireplaces will not operate during a power failure.
- It ships for natural gas. Propane takes a certified conversion kit installed by a qualified technician.
- Long logs are Driftwood only. For Valley Oak or Birch, choose the standard-log version.
If you want a log fire that looks real on an extra-tall wall, the Ortal Wilderness 60HH Front Facing is the right decision. The room you used to pass through becomes the one everyone settles into.
The long Driftwood log set comes on this burner; add a puck handset, a wall switch, or the MyFire app.
