Who It's For
For a statement wall in a very large room, nothing short works: the fire has to be long and tall. You need the biggest opening Ortal makes in a single-sided fire. If you want about 97 inches of fire behind 29 1/2-inch glass, the Front Facing 98HH is the one. The 98 and 98H are lower.
What Makes It Special
The 98HH combines the 180 burner with Ortal's extra-tall double glass, a 97 5/16-inch-wide opening that turns the wall into a window of fire.
Ortal builds it without a frame, so the opening looks cut into your wall, and the cool-wall design means a TV or artwork can still hang above. Ortal publishes the gas input, not a square footage; from that input we estimate approximately 1,300 to 2,650 square feet.
The front is double glass, cooled by fans that move room air between the panes. Set a temperature on the included remote and it holds the room there on its own.
Possible Downsides
- There's no fire during a power outage: double-glass units run on the plug-in adapter.
- It's double glass only; for a screen option at this length, the Front Facing 98H is the one.
- Propane needs a conversion kit, fitted by an Ortal-authorized technician; it arrives set up for natural gas.
If you want the biggest single-sided fire in the lineup, the Front Facing 98HH is the right decision. The room is designed around the fire, and it shows.
Configure it with one of five included log sets or an upgrade like bonfire, aspen, or charred branches, and add a black reflective interior if you like.
