Who It's For

A big room needs a stove with real output, and gas stoves have a reputation for sending a lot of what you pay for out the vent. You need a large stove that keeps the heat in the room. If you want a cast iron gas stove for a large space, and you want the most heat per dollar of gas, the Hampton H35 is the one. A less efficient stove heats the room too; you just pay more each month to do it.

What Makes It Special

At 75 percent steady-state efficiency, the H35 is the most efficient gas stove in Regency's line, so three-quarters of the gas you burn becomes heat in the room. It is also the largest Hampton, with the biggest fire window of the three.

Cast iron in charcoal gray, timberline brown enamel, or cream enamel, with rustic brown or old town red brick behind the logs. It heats without electricity, and the upgraded version lights only when you turn it on.

Possible Downsides

  • The basic version burns a pilot flame year-round; the upgraded version does not.
  • The fan is optional, and a large room usually wants it.

If you have a large room and want a cast iron stove that wastes the least gas heating it, the Hampton H35 is the right decision. The big room is warm, and the gas bill is smaller than you braced for.

The H35 comes in basic or upgraded versions in charcoal gray, timberline brown enamel, or cream enamel, with propane conversion kits, brick panels in rustic brown or old town red, fan kits, an on/off remote for the basic version, an ember upgrade, and wall thermostats.
