The cast iron stove most living rooms are sized for.

Quick Facts

  • Heating Capacity: Approx. 650–1,250 sq ft
  • Efficiency: 68% (steady state)
  • Viewing Area: 210 sq in
  • Fuel: Natural gas.
  • Controls: Handheld remote with thermostat on the upgraded version; the basic version uses a wall switch or an optional remote; wall thermostat optional.

Who It's For

You want a freestanding stove with the weight and detail of cast iron, and the room is an ordinary living room: not a cabin, not a great room. You need the middle size. If you want a classic cast iron gas stove for an average living space, with tall flames behind the glass and matching vent paint, the Hampton H27 is the one. The small H15 leaves the room cool; the large H35 is more stove than the room needs.

What Makes It Special

The H27 is Regency's medium cast iron gas stove, with the timeless shape of a wood stove, a fire and log package built to show tall flames, and finishes in charcoal gray or timberline brown enamel, with matching paint for the vent pipe so the whole stove reads as one piece.

It heats without electricity, so the room stays warm when the power is out. The basic version keeps a small pilot flame lit; the upgraded version lights only when you turn it on.

Possible Downsides

  • No fan kit is listed for this model; it heats by radiant and natural convection.
  • Two finishes, charcoal gray and timberline brown; the H15 and H35 add cream enamel.
  • The basic version burns a pilot flame year-round; the upgraded version does not.

If your living room is average size and you want a cast iron stove that fits it, the Hampton H27 is the right decision. The stove in the corner is the reason the living room is where the evening happens.

The H27 comes in basic or upgraded versions in charcoal gray or timberline brown enamel, with matching vent paint, an ember upgrade, remote control holders, and basic or programmable wall thermostats.
