Who It's For
Most realistic electric fires need a deep wall or a bump-out, and that turns a simple project into a framing job. You need a fire that fits the wall you already have. If you're adding a fire to a bedroom, a home office, or a condo living room and want the Orion's screen-drawn flame without the depth, the 52-inch Orion Slim is the one. Choose a deeper unit and you're building out the wall; choose this one and the fire slides in after the wall is finished.
What Makes It Special
The flame is drawn on an LCD screen, not a strip of LEDs, so it has the depth and movement of a real fire from any seat in the room. Pick from three flame styles in six colors, give the ember bed and the downlighting their own colors, and set the crackling sound where you like it. A driftwood log set and reflective black glass come in the box.
Installation is the other half of the story: it slides into the wall after the drywall, tile, or stone is up and trims itself out, or it hangs on the wall. It plugs into a standard outlet, and its fan-forced heater adds supplemental warmth for up to about 400 square feet—or runs the flames alone with the heat off.
