A FireIn fire, with flames within the logs, for your existing fireplace.
Quick Facts
- Fuel: Natural gas or propane.
- Controls: Electronic ignition with a thermostatic remote: flame height, burners, fan speed, lights, and a timer from your seat. Wi-Fi app control is available.
- Fan: Included.
Who It's For
An old wood fireplace can be drafty, messy, and seldom used. You want a gas fire in it that still looks like burning wood. The Mendota FV33i FireIn is made for that. Leave the old opening as it is and it keeps sitting dark.
What Makes It Special
The FireIn burner sits inside the log set, so the flames come up not just under the logs but within and around them, and the hand-painted birch or white oak logs capture the look of a crackling wood fire.
Mendota offers the FireIn insert in two sizes, the FV33i and the FV44i.
If the power goes out, plug in the back-up battery pack and the burner and flame height keep working; the fans and accent lights wait for the power to return. Mendota builds its fireplaces from heavy-gauge steel with full-seam welding and careful hand assembly in America's heartland.
Possible Downsides
- Surround, logs, liner, and front are sold separately. You choose each one to build the look.
- The fans need power. In an outage the battery pack runs the burner, not the fans.
If you want a Mendota fire in your existing fireplace, the Mendota FV33i FireIn is the right decision. The fireplace you used to ignore becomes the one you light every evening.
Choose the surround, front, liner, and log set or media, and add the LED floor light kit where offered.

Can you get an instant online estimate for the Mendota FV33i FireIn?
Yes—right on this page. Configure the Mendota FV33i FireIn and get a free, no-obligation instant estimate covering the unit as configured, a fitting vent kit, and professional installation labor. No phone call required.
What's included in the online estimate?
The unit with the options you selected, a real vent kit matched to your venting, and the installation labor for a typical setup. Your free one-to-two-hour in-home visit confirms every detail before anything is ordered.
Who pulls the permit?
We do, on every job, in every jurisdiction we serve—and we meet the inspector. It's built into the process, not an upsell.
Can you see the Mendota FV33i FireIn in a photo of your own room?
Yes. The Visualizer tab on this page renders the Mendota FV33i FireIn into a straight-on photo of your wall, scaled to the room, so you see it in your space before you price a thing. Phone photos are fine. It's a faithful preview, not an architectural drawing; sizing, venting, and trim get confirmed at the free in-home visit.
Is the online estimate real, or a rough guess?
Real, and honest about what it is: a price for the Mendota FV33i FireIn as configured, a fitting vent kit, and professional installation labor, built from real Seattle installs. It is not binding. The free one-to-two-hour in-home visit checks your actual house before the price is final, and nothing is ordered until then.
Do you install and service the Mendota FV33i FireIn yourselves?
Yes, both. Our own in-house installers set the Mendota FV33i FireIn, run the venting and the gas, pull the permit, and light the first fire before leaving. Afterward the service desk looks after every unit that came from Sutter, with factory-trained technicians and a real date when you call.
