A gas insert with contemporary lines and a nod to tradition.

Quick Facts

  • Heating Capacity: 600–1,800 sq ft (Jøtul's stated range).
  • Fuel: Natural gas or propane.
  • Controls: Standing pilot; remote and wall thermostat optional.
  • Fan: Included or optional, by version.

Who It's For

An open wood fireplace is messy and drafty, and it rarely gets lit. You want real gas heat from the opening you already have. The Jøtul GI 545 Winter Harbor is for that fireplace. Leave it as it is and it keeps sending heat up the chimney.

What Makes It Special

The GI 545 Winter Harbor pairs contemporary styling with a nod to tradition, with reliable standing pilot gas controls, a choice of two firebox versions (blower standard or blower optional), and cast iron or steel overlays.

Choose traditional logs, beach fire, or birch logs, and one of four interior panel kits.

Like every Jøtul gas stove and fireplace, it comes with an approved fire safety screen.

Possible Downsides

  • An overlay is a required choice. Pick cast iron, rectangle steel, or arched steel.
  • The remote is optional.

If you want Jøtul gas heat in your existing fireplace, the Jøtul GI 545 Winter Harbor is the right decision. The fireplace becomes the warmest spot in the house again.

Choose the overlay and backer frame, the log set, an interior panel kit, the blower (on the blower-optional version), a remote, a wall thermostat, and a mantel heat shield.
