Enjoy Your Best Grilling & BBQ Season Yet
The season for outdoor living and barbecuing is upon us! Not only are we seeing and smelling the blossoms of spring, but the smell and sizzle of the grill is starting to waft through our neighborhoods.
In his book Cooked, Michael Pollan explains the connection between our ability to cook food and our evolution as a species. Fire, of course, is an essential part of cooking. The smell of smoked and barbecued food triggers an almost primal response. This scent activates our taste buds and conjures up images of good food, good friends, and relaxing on the deck or patio.
Recipes Perfect for Grilling
After a rain-soaked winter, our desire to be outside is only exceeded by our desire to fire up the grill and enjoy our well-deserved time in the sun. Both at home and here at Sutter Home & Hearth, we’re barbecuing and smoking everything from roasts and ribs to russets and romaine. If you’re yearning for something simple and delicious, think about pulled pork on your charcoal grill–preferably one with smoking capabilities. If you’re feeling more adventurous try Bobby Flay’s Paella on your ceramic smoker. Or meal prep for your week by making some delicious carne asada that can be turned into tacos, sandwiches, or salads for weekday lunches you’ll actually want to eat.
Finding the Right BBQ for You
Finding the right barbecue for your home is as simple as thinking about “What do I like to cook?” and “What do I want to be able to cook?” While these questions are often asked individually, answering both these questions helps us at Sutter Home & Hearth make sure we recommend a grill that fits your current needs and your future barbecue goals.

While both men and women like to grill, I am always reminded of a British friend of ours who was amazed at the whole world of barbecue. She deemed it the greatest invention of American Women. “Not only does it get men to do the cooking,” she said, “but it gets them to do it outside!”
