Lump Charcoal & Smoking Woods

Natural charcoal is absolutely the best fuel for charcoal barbecues. It is real wood that has been “pyrolized” removing much of the smoke and turning it into a slow-burning fuel that is relatively clean. It does not contain the coal dust and petrochemicals of most “briquette” charcoals. We stock both Wicked Good and Green Egg lump charcoal. We will also have a broad selection of wood chips and chunks to enhance the flavor of your barbecue recipes. From Apple to Pecan and Mesquite you’ll find just the right touch of smoke.

Many “briquette” products contain things like borax, limestone, vegetable matter, coal dust and petroleum distillates. Not a healthy concoction. Meanwhile, lump charcoal is real wood burned-down to eliminate the volatile compounds. A lump of wood charcoal is roughly 20 – 25% of it’s original volume. Mainly carbon, It won’t produce much smoke. It will also burn long, hot and steady…the perfect combination for successful barbecuing. In a properly designed barbecue you can precisely control the fire and subsequently the cooking temperatures.
